MidWest Financial is a member-owned, not-for-profit, financial cooperative. That means every member is also an owner. Furthermore, our Board of Directors is elected from the membership and serves on a non-paid, volunteer basis.

History

Founded in 1938 by the employees of U of M Hospital under the name University of Michigan Hospital Employees Credit Union.

Merges with VA Medical Hospital Credit Union in 1969.

Changes name to Hospital and Health Services Credit Union in 1981.

Merges with Clinton Oakland Employees Credit Union in 1985, expanding membership to state medical facilities.

Moves into Green Road offices in 1995.

Changes name to MidWest Financial Credit Union in 1997 to serve Ann Arbor Area community.

Launches the UMHS Financial brand for U of M Health System employees in 2003.

Opens first branch office on Carpenter Road in 2004.

Opens U of M Hospital and Briarwood branches in 2005.

Opens Jackson Road branch in March 2006.

Changes corporate logo to better reflect its membership and the communities it serves.
